Review on Samsung TouchWiz UX Interface for Galaxy Tab 10.1

Samsung’s newest UI, TouchWiz UX for Android, that specifically made for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is out. According to Slashgear, “what TouchWiz amounts to is a custom user interface that sits on top of and beside Android 3.1 Honeycomb, working to improve the way you work with Android and your tablet in general as well as opening your pathway to Samsung’s new movie collection interface and ability to work with Mini Apps on top of your everyday full-screen apps and home screens”.

Whether one should update to the new UI? hmm…. better check out the full review by Slashgear to find out , link here.

7″ Samsung Galaxy Tab 16GB WiFi Version now HK$2,988 Only

This just in. Samsung just announced the 7″ Galaxy Tab 16GB WiFi version for US$349 and Hong Kong list price is officially set at HK$2,988.

This comes ahead of Apple’s iPad 2 launch in Hong Kong.  For those who bought the 3G+WiFi version a while back, hmm…. I know how you all feel.  With the Personal Hotspot available on the iPhone, who needs 3G on the tablet really.  For those who want to get their hands on the Galaxy Tab, now’s the great chance with this new WiFi version.

According to Samsung, we should expect local availability after the official U.S. launch on 10 April 2011, probably towards the end of the month.

iPad Alternative – Neofonie WePad Tablet

cnet-logo.jpgMy new entry over at CNET Asia Community Blog is up. This week’s entry, “iPad Alternative – Neofonie WePad Tablet”. Click here for the full read.

We first saw the Neofonie Wepad at this year’s CES (see the following video shot by the guys at Neofonie), the final spec was finally announced this week, let’s see how it matches up with the iPad.

Screen size: 11.6 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel display [WePad][WINS] vs 9.7-inch, 1024 x 768 pixel display [iPad]

Processor: 1.66GHz Intel Atom N450 processor [WePad][WINS] vs 1GHz Apple A4 custom-designed, high-performance, low-power system-on-a-chip [iPad]

Battery life: 6 hours [WePad] vs 10 hours [iPad][WINS]

Webcam: YES, 1.3 megapixel camera [WePad][WINS] vs NOT YET HERE [iPad]

Flash Adobe Air: YES [WePad][WINS] vs NO [iPad]

Expansion: 2 USB ports and flash card reader [WePad][WINS] vs NONE [iPad]

Radio: UMTS modem [WePad][WINS] vs Wi-Fi + 3G (depends on model)[iPad]

Apart from the above, the WePad also features the Google Android OS (meaning access to Android Market) and open eBook standards.  Sounds neat right? The WePad is expected to be available in April (in Germany).
