My Tribute to Queen’s Pier

As I was on my way to the Hong Kong International School 40th Anniversary Band Concert at City Hall last night, I stopped by the Queen’s Pier to sign on the petition and to snap a few pics for myself for collective memory sake.

{RTHK News]  The government’s second bid to obtain funding for dismantling and relocating Queen’s Pier has won approval from the Legislative Council’s Public Works subcommittee. Ten members approved the application, while seven were opposed and one abstained. The government earlier withdrew its application, pending a decision by the Antiquities Advisory Board on the grading of the structure. The board later decided to designate Queen’s Pier as a grade one building of outstanding historical merit. The funding application will now go to the Legislative Council’s Finance Committee for final approval. The Secretary for Home Affairs, Patrick Ho, dismissed calls for the pier to be declared a monument, saying it lacked sufficent historical significance.
