First Look – HTC Touch HD

Well, been a busy week for HTC with their new releases, the HTC Touch HD, the HTC Touch Viva and the HTC Touch 3G.  Today, we’re gonna take a first look at the HTC HD.  The great thing about this phone is definitely the HUGE screen size, 480×800 WVGA resolution, that’s a notch up from the HTC Diamond and Pro.  Size wise, it’s about the same as the iPhone, so it would be interesting to see how it fares when it is launched.  Specification of the HTC Touch HD as follows –

  • Processor – Qualcomm® MSM 7201A™ 528 MHz
  • Operating System – Windows Mobile® 6.1 Professional
  • Memory – ROM: 512MB, RAM:288MB
  • Dimensions – 115 mm x 62.8 mm x 12 mm
  • Weight – 146.4 grams with battery
  • Display – 3.8-inch TFT-LCD flat touch-sensitive screen with 480 x 800 WVGA resolution
  • Networks – Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz, Dual-band WCDMA/HSDPA:900/2100MHz. HSDPA 7.2 Mbps
  • Connectivity – Bluetooth 2.0 with Enhanced Data Rate and A2DP for wireless stereo headsets, Wi-Fi: IEEE 802.11 b/g
  • Battery – 1350 mAh
  • Expansion – microSD™ memory card (SD 2.0 compatible)
  • Others – FM Radio, G-Sensor, GPS and A-GPS ready

  1. Thanks for adding the local price info… this is what lacks on other pure news sites!

1010 is not offering the Touch Pro yet even though they supposedly had their HK launch some days ago (if I remember correctly), at least their local shops do not have it yet, and still have “pre-order” notices up.

Do you think there will be a HTC Touch HD Pro (basically a Touch HD with a keyboard)?

Yesterday I was using the iPhone and realized for long emails and similar, touchscreen entry is just slower than a physical keyboard, so the only choices available right now are the HTC Touch Pro and the SE Xperia X1. I’m leaning towards the X1 as it has a much bigger/clearer display… but the Touch HD is EVEN better… if only it had a keyboard!!!
