InstallFree Nexus Bringing Cloud Based Office to Any Mobile Devices and Desktop

This nifty application is in beta and sure looks promising. The developers announced that Dropbox and Google Drive support are coming soon, probably by their launch this month.  According to ZDNet, InstallFree Nexus will come in two versions,

InstallFree Nexus Basic

  • The full LibreOffice (formerly OpenOffice) application suite for creating and editing documents from any device or browser
  • Full-fidelity viewing of Microsoft Office files
  • Seamless integration with Dropbox, Google Drive, Box, SkyDrive, SharePoint, Office 365 and other storage services
  • Free

InstallFree Nexus Premium

  • All the capabilities available in Nexus Basic
  • Microsoft Office 2010 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher) subscription license
  • $4.99 per month / $49.99 per year for academic licenses
  • $19.99 per month / $199.99 per year for standard licenses

The downside is….. well the beta is not available in our region, aka Hong Kong, so we cannot test-drive it….. real bummer.  Hope it’s available by launch.

Bendi – The Flexi iPad Stand – Now on Kickstarter

Yet another great Kickstarter project. Bendi is an iPad stand exactly like no other stand, and probably the only one you’ll need. Bendi works wherever you want it to work: on a table, on your desk, in the car, or in a meeting. It even works with all the major tablets, not just the iPad. Bendi comprised of three parts, a strong suction device to hold the iPad, a bendable arm and either a magnetic (cost extra) or clamp base to suit your needs. The Bendi is seeking a pledge goal of US$5,000 on Kickstarter and have so far doubled that already.  The lowest pledge for a Bendi is US$55, is that worth it? you be the judge. For more details, head over to their Kickstarter page linked here and check out the following video.

Review on Samsung TouchWiz UX Interface for Galaxy Tab 10.1

Samsung’s newest UI, TouchWiz UX for Android, that specifically made for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is out. According to Slashgear, “what TouchWiz amounts to is a custom user interface that sits on top of and beside Android 3.1 Honeycomb, working to improve the way you work with Android and your tablet in general as well as opening your pathway to Samsung’s new movie collection interface and ability to work with Mini Apps on top of your everyday full-screen apps and home screens”.

Whether one should update to the new UI? hmm…. better check out the full review by Slashgear to find out , link here.

7″ Samsung Galaxy Tab 16GB WiFi Version now HK$2,988 Only

This just in. Samsung just announced the 7″ Galaxy Tab 16GB WiFi version for US$349 and Hong Kong list price is officially set at HK$2,988.

This comes ahead of Apple’s iPad 2 launch in Hong Kong.  For those who bought the 3G+WiFi version a while back, hmm…. I know how you all feel.  With the Personal Hotspot available on the iPhone, who needs 3G on the tablet really.  For those who want to get their hands on the Galaxy Tab, now’s the great chance with this new WiFi version.

According to Samsung, we should expect local availability after the official U.S. launch on 10 April 2011, probably towards the end of the month.
