Phottix Atlas II Triggers Are Now Available in Hong Kong via PASM Workshop

It’s finally here, the all new Phottix Atlas II is now available in Hong Kong via my studio, PASM Workshop (authorized Phottix dealer).

The Phottix Atlas II is the professional choice for reliable wireless flash triggering. Say goodbye to transmitters and receivers to trigger flashes, studio lights, and cameras – one remote will do it all. The Atlas II triggers flashes at sync speeds of up to 1/250 sec.* The system will trigger cameras, flashes and studio lights at distances of 350 meters or more.

The Phottix Atlas II is a transceiver. With the simple change of a switch the Atlas II is ready to either transmit or receive signals. Simplify your off-camera flash triggering – one unit can be used as a transmitter or receiver.

Triggering flashes is only one of the Phottix Atlas II functions. It can also be used, with Phottix Accessory Cables, as a wired or wireless shutter release. It now features a two stage shutter button – a half-press will autofocus, a full press takes a photo.

The Atlas II is compatible with Phottix Strato and Odin series TTL triggers. It fits in perfectly with Phottix’s existing line-up, allowing the power and freedom of a long-range transceiver. With its new functions. the Atlas II is not compatible with the original Phottix Atlas trigger.

With a hot shoe and two 3.5mm sync ports on the transceiver, the Phottix Atlas II can be used to easily trigger hot shoe flashes and studio lights*. Cables and adapters are included. The Atlas II uses readily available AA batteries and has a 5V DC power port.

The Phottix Atlas II uses a digital IC and radio signals to reliably fire flashes, studio lights and cameras at long ranges. Need to trigger a flash from 1,100 feet away? The Atlas II is the wireless trigger for you. The high-powered Atlas has both FCC and CE wireless certification.

The Phottix Atlas II comes in two different packings, a single pack (1 trigger) and a dual pack (2 triggers). PASM Workshop is offering great discounts to its members.

List price for 1 trigger set ~ HK$590, PASM Member price HK$515.

List price for 2 triggers set ~ HK$1,080, PASM Member Price HK$960.

iPhoto on iPad Demo Video

Ever since the Apple big event last week, been getting a lot of questions from ppl regarding the new iPhoto app for iPad and iPhone.  Whether it’s any good and worth US$4.99. Well, to answer all, nothing beats a demo video so ppl can see it for themselves.  I personally find the iPad version more appealing with that extra screen estate.  For the iPhone….nah.

Adobe Addresses Lightroom 4 Issues

Repost from Lightroom Journal via PASM Workshop

The team would like to provide an update on several issues discovered since last Monday night’s launch. Thanks for your patience while we investigated and compiled this list.

Point Tone Curve Migration
In Lightroom 3, the Tone Curve panel added a “point curve” adjustment option in addition to the default parametric curve.  When a customer upgrades their Lightroom 3 catalog to Lightroom 4, any images with point curve adjustments will lose those specific settings.  This is a high severity bug and we are working hard to provide a solution as quickly as possible.  Several members of the community have already started helping us test a fix that can be applied to an upgraded Lightroom 4 catalog.  We’ll be providing updates via this blog and the following Lightroom Feedback thread.

“Edit in” Workflow for External Editors/Plug-ins
There is a bug on both Mac and Windows that can cause the “Edit in…” workflow to fail for third party applications and plug-ins.  Many of our customers working with Nik plug-ins have found that they’re unable to launch their plug-ins from within Lightroom 4. (This is more prevalent on Windows)  We are testing a solution for this problem and it will be included in our next update.  Feedback on this bug is captured here.

Edit in Photoshop Workflow
Currently, the Edit in Photoshop workflow asks that you have the Camera Raw 7 plug-in installed.  Please note that the Camera Raw 7 plug-in is not available at this time.  The correct plug-in for Lightroom 4 and Photoshop CS5 compatibility is Camera Raw 6.7, currently available on Adobe Labs Please keep in mind that currently Camera Raw 6.7 is a a Release Candidate version of the plug-in. A “release candidate” label indicates that this update is well tested but would benefit from additional community testing before it is distributed automatically to all of our customers.

Reverse Geocoding Delays
We had a temporary loss of reverse geocoding results on Tuesday.  This problem has been resolved and we’re monitoring the issue with Google’s help.

Serial Number Delivery from Adobe.com Store
A small group of customers that ordered Lightroom 4 as a software download(not a boxed copy) on Tuesday or Wednesday did not receive serial numbers.  We’ve corrected the error and we’ll be monitoring this issue going forward.  If you’re included in that group and have not received a serial number yet, please contact Jeff Tranberry, our Chief Customer Advocate, with your order number and any support case numbers you have.

Upgrade Details
We’ve had several questions around who is eligible for an upgrade to Lightroom 4.  Any Lightroom 1, 2 or 3 version of Lightroom, education editions included, can utilize the upgrade version of Lightroom 4.  The prior version of Lightroom does not need to be installed on the computer, however you will need the prior version serial number at the time of installation of Lightroom 4. (If the prior version is still installed on the computer, Lightroom 4 will automatically pick up that serial number so you don’t need to go digging through boxes or your email)

Upgrade policy for those that just purchased LIghtroom 3
We’ve seen quite a few questions from those who have just purchased Lightroom 3.  If you purchased Lightroom 3 very recently you may be eligible for a complimentary upgrade to Lightroom 4: http://www.adobe.com/go/pa

TIME Magazine’s Person of the Year – The Protester – Production Video

Last month, TIME magazine revealed their Person of the Year Award and it went to…the Protesters.  As Washington Post puts it,

“No one could have known that when a Tunisian fruit vendor set himself on fire in a public square, it would incite protests that would topple dictators and start a global wave of dissent,” the magazine writes. “In 2011, protesters didn’t just voice their complaints; they changed the world.”

Over the past year, “the protester” has voiced dissent against authoritarian leaders, first in Tunisia, and then in Egypt, Libya, Syria,Yemen and Bahrain. The protester in Spain and in Greece, which even had its own protest dog, struggled with a floundering economy. The protester voiced anger over possibly rigged elections, in countries as diverse as Russia and the Democratic Republic of Congo. In the U.S., the Occupy Wall Street protester began demonstrating first in New York, and then in Washington, Chicago, and cities as small as Trenton, N.J.

In this year’s report, Time pieced together what all these revolutions have in common, why they protest, and what the legacy of the year’s protests will be. The magazine profiles a citizen journalist who started the live stream for Occupy Wall Street from Zuccotti Park, and aprotester in Mexico who has had enough of the drug violence in that country.

The video of the making of the portrait pictures was released earlier this month, let’s thake a look at how these wonderful pictures were taken and explore what goes behind the minds of the photographers.
