They will be available from 3HK’s retail shops tomorrow.

Is there a price? I can’t find it on their website. planning to get the 16GB (I’m not in HK though).
Comment by jono | July 9, 2009
Don’t think 3HK will be selling one without contract for the time being. You can try the import ones, though a bit hefty.
Comment by hongkongphooey | July 9, 2009
I think the upgrade price may vary according to which monthly service plan you’re on? I’m not on the top plan – I’m on one of the middle plans, and I was quoted a slightly higher price for the upgrade. But I’m insane, have to have it anyway.
Comment by Spike | July 9, 2009 |
Yes, confirmed, upgrade price varies according to which monthly service plan you’re on. The $4,360 is for people on the $498 per month plan.
Comment by Spike | July 9, 2009 |
Major rip-off there from 3HK. Good luck with your upgrade Spike.

you can buy the iphone on the apple store now.
Three HK are still underhand hidden monthly charges of $12 tunnel fee and minimum $28 ‘value added service’ extra you have to pay ontop of the monthly subscription. how is value added service ‘value’ if it’s unwanted.
UPGRADE
you can change from 2g to 3g, though i’m out of contract so i can quit my contract anytime. they offered a total ownership HK$7396 including 32gb for 12month contract on the basic 138 (works out at HK$178 per month.)

Apple selling contract free 3GS for 5400 and 6500 I think (or somewhere thereabouts).
Speaking of 3 ripoffs… my wife discovered that they had added “extra services” to her account – two video watching packages. Her phone doesn’t even play video. They refuse to refund it, as she “should have checked her bills”, despite her never actually asking for the services or agreeing to them. She is going to go postal on them in person this week (CS people eventually said they’d refund two months’ of charges, but she wanted every month she had been charged to be refunded).
Moral of the story – check your monthly bill if you’re with 3. They may have added extra services in order to “enhance your experience”
